SAN FRANCISCO—Chip technology licensor Rambus Inc. Tuesday (Jan. 3) raised its sales target for the fourth quarter of 2011, saying it now expects sales for the quarter ended Dec. 31 to be about $83 million.
Rambus (Sunnyvale, Calif.) had previously targeted a sales of range of between $66 million and $71 million.
Rambus did not say why fourth quarter sales were better than expected. But last month Rambus announced that Broadcom Corp. signed a license agreement for Rambus technology, a deal which included resolution of all outstanding claims between the two companies, including past use of Rambus' patented innovations. Financial terms of the Broadcom deal were not disclosed.
