Real Cartier?

Shopping on-line is safe and easy, but sometimes we may wonder about our purchase. Is the Cartier watch I just bought, the real deal? There are ways to tell if you have purchased an authentic timepiece or not. Here are some things to consider:

1. Did you purchase from an authorized retailer? If so, you need not worry about authenticity.

2. Did the retailer you purchased from provide papers, with your watch? All genuine timepieces will come with a certificate of authenticity.

3. If you didn't make this purchase from a reputable dealer, you can always take the timepiece in to be professionally inspected.

4. You can examine the watch, yourself noting any significant markings, which are usually on the case back.

5. Check the detailing of the watch. Look for any, obvious signs, such as misspelled words or sloppy craftsmanship. Also, notice that the jeweled cabochon is set and not glued.

6. Luxury watches, like these will have a sapphire crystal. To determine if your watch has a sapphire crystal, place a small drop of water on it, and notice if the water beads or smears. If the water beads, you have a genuine sapphire crystal.

7. If you are still not certain whether or not you have a genuine timepiece, you may take it in and have the case back removed, to inspect the movement. Most of these high end luxury watches will have their name engraved on the movement.

Hopefully these steps will help you to determine the authenticity of your watch.
